Nurturing a love for Reading

Our Parent 'Stay and Read a Story' sessions have got off to a brilliant start. It has been so nice to see so many parents reading stores with their children and developing a love for books.

Under The Sea

Look how much we have learnt  about creatures that live under the Sea....
We started off our topic by reading the story 'Commotion in the Ocean', and we learnt the names of all the different creatures that live under the sea.

The children drew pictures of their favourite sea creatures and we made sea creatures using salt dough and play dough.

We drew our favourite sea creatures

We enjoyed finding out what sea creatures float and sink.

The children have enjoyed developing their imaginative role play skills in our Under The Sea role play area.

The children had to save the fishes that had been frozen. They came up with different ideas of how to get the fish out.

We talked about how to keep the ocean environment safe for the sea creatures.

We had lots of fun learning all about Pirates. We learnt how to walk the plank and went to find our own treasure using lots of positional language.

We had a pirate party to celebrate how much we learnt about pirates and we came to Nursery dressed as pirates.

We enjoyed more stories about sea creatures. Our favourite was the 'Rainbow Fish.' We made our own rainbow fish and talked about the importance of sharing and making other happy.

We read the Fish Who could wish. We talked about what we would wish for and made our own potions and magic spells.
